ICA BOSTON ANALYSIS
Description
1. The artist is Lucien Castang-Taylor
2.This still is called Leviathan
3. 2012
4. It's from a still from a video
6. The setting is somewhere where seagulls
8.The subject is a group of seagulls
Analysis
Shape and Space are in this still because the seagulls are all generally the same shape and because of this there is also the same negative space in the photo
Elements
The still has good balance in the photo because there is good positive and negative space. There's harmonious feel in the still since it's a very natural photo of seagulls.
Interpretation
The piece is realistic and when i look at it i feel very calm and peaceful because the photo is very natural. The piece evokes question because here is no reason why all of the seagulls are flying away. The mood is a light and airy mood in my opinion because I feel as if it a very natural and soothing still. The still doesn't really tell a story and I think the still was created to show nature's elegance.
Judgement
I like the photo but I don't think that its an important work of art history because it doesn't really offer anything jawdropping or new. Since this is from 2012, this might fit into the historical timeline with the big oil spill in 2012. I don't believe this work has influenced many other pieces of artwork. The title doesn't really make sense to the still since a Leviathan is a mythical monster in the Old Testament.
