Myths and Legends
Reflection
Choose a character or scene to portray:
We chose King Arthur
What PROPS could you use to symbolize the events or characters?
(You may bring in or create the props by creating a stencil with posterboard.)
We used a paper crown, a pirate sword and pink foam and a cart to set up the shots. The crown was used to portay Arthur after he was able to pull the sword from the rock. The pink foam and the cart was used to symbolize the rock and we used a black backdrop to cover the pink foam. The sword was used to symbolize the legend of Excalibur.
How will you set up the scene?
What color of lights will you need? (What will the colors represent?)
We set up the scene in the performing arts center with the cart and the sword with a chair to show whoever played King Arthur was elevated. The lghts we needed were red and just regular white light to illuminate King Arthur. The red represents the sense of urgency and power in the legend.
What will your model or models be doing?
Will you need chairs? Will your model be laying? Reaching? What gesture will communicate their character, OR if you have two characters, how will they interact?
The models will be the people I am working with. We'll need chairs and in one picture he'll be pulling the sword up, in another he'll have the sword out of the rock and be pointing it up.
How will you illuminate the scene? Will light be cast from above, below or from the front?
Will you use colored lights from behind? Will the lights be in uniform lines? Horizontal? Vertical? Spiral?
The light will be cast from below and in front. Colored lights won't be used from behind because we found that it didn't pick up with the camera as well as we wanted to.
